From M.D.'S DESK PRAGA CELEBRATES DIAMOND JUBLIEE YEAR

      In our earlier communications, we have focused all our attention and given emphasis for a Turnaround plan. To improve the performance frommWorst to Good to Great, We did not go from Good to Great but we got Better. We could be achieving Better to Great possibly in comming months.
      With our thrust to accord all priorities to customer care and meeting their quality requirements, we could regain their confidence. During the last financial year, there has been significant increase in Sales and Order Book in the 1st Quarter of current financial year there is jump of 100% in Order Bool and increase of 65% in Sales over the corresponding period of previous year 2002-03. Customer's cooperation & faith are infusing confidence in us to perform the Best.
      I am thankful for the close association of a large number of our customers, suppliers & well wishers in our Diamond Jubliee Celebrations recently which has given me immense pleasure. I felt that we have missed them during a bad phase but not lost them.

      Our employees have been highly positive in responding to the changing market demands. I believe that all human beings are capable of change for Better. But we started from the premise that it is better to work with people rather than change them. People are assets and they always come first. People at Praga are the key.
      The Campaign at Praga that produce, perform or Perish tend to assure that people have already understood about competitive environment. There is now clear evidence that this message is sinking into Praga psyche, particularly to our skiled workforce. The well motivated workforce are now paying all attention towards continuous incremental improvement and we repeatedly question ourselves - How to do things better, how to do this easier, how to do this faster and how to do this cheaper or how else can we do this otherwise to come closer to our customers & delight them.
      Praga is thus working for "achievement in unity of purpose of Turning around." A typical customer comment today has transcended to - "No where else makes one feel this good when one works on Praga Machines" reminding you that : WE DO WHAT WE DO THE BEST

 PRAGA TOOLS had organised Diamond Jubliee Celebrations at Sri Satya Sai  Nigamagaman On 27th June 2003. The Chief guest for the occasion was Dr.  M. Jagannath (M.P) who along with other dignitaries lighted the lamp and  released the Souvenir. It was a glittering ceremony attended by a large  number of well wishers and employees. Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises
      Shri Subodh Mohite, was inducted as the Hon'ble Union Minister for Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises on 24th May, 2003. He is yound and dynamic Member of Parliament from the Ramtek constituency in Maharastra since 1999, and is a Civil Engineering Graduate. He has wide exprience in the Public Works Department, Irrigation Department and the Maharastra Housing and Area Development Authority besides rich administrative experience i Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority besides rich administrative experience in Maharastra Government Secretariat in Mumbai.


      With a keen aptitude tp serve the people, he took up several key issues affecting the daily lives of the people, he took up several key issues affecting the daily lives of the people and got them redressed by the Government, He introduced an on The spot consultation process with all sections of the people off his proposals to be funded under Member of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) schemes. He introduced many private Member's Bills exposing public and administrative interests and visited several states in the country contributing immensely to the work of various parliamentary committees of which he was a Convener / Member.


      Praga Tools considers itself fortunate to have a young and dynamic leader like Mr. Mohite as the Hon'ble Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises. Under his dynamic leadership and able guidance, Praga eventually would turn around in the near future and regain its past glory.

RECENT DEVELOPMENTS AND HAPPENINGS
  • Praga received a prestigious export order from Switzerland against stiff competition for Tool & Cutter Grinding Machine Model 414.
  • Praga has received prestigious order from M/s Automax for 4 Nos of Thread Rolling Machine also a 36 ton Thread Rolling Machine from Larsen & Tourbro and Munjal auto.
Order have been executed and delivered for: PRECISION JOB WORK: Was carried out for ECIL, BEL, Ordance FACTORY - KANPUR.
AMMUNITION FACTORY - KIRKEE & L & T. This segment is steadily picking up over the past few months.

RECONDITIONING & RETROFITTING :

Order for CNC Horizontal Machining Centre from Heavy Vehicle Factory - Avadi and M/s Crane have been received and are in the process of execution. Customer confidence and preference for Praga has grown considerably for reconditioning and retrofitting.

Thread Rolling Machine
MACHINE SPARES

Order for various Machines SPares have increased 3 fold compared to corresponding period of previous year. Spares order were received from Ordnance Factory - Kanpur, Gun & Shell Factory - Jabalpur, Ordnance Factory - Muradnagar. Two year normal running spares supplied with the machine have been fine tuned to reduce dependence on Praga for minor breakdowns.

PRAGA INTRODUCES HYDRAULIC POWER CHUCK

Praga Tools manufactures today Wedge-Hook Type 3-Jaw Through hole Power chuck with Cylinders in 3 sizes viz., 160mm, 200mm & 250 mm.

The Salient features of the Power Chuck are as folows :

It is a Wedge-Hook type 3 Jaw with large through hole.

Mating Surface of all parts hardened, ground and lubricated directly.

Construction of high rigidity and high clamping accuracy.

The Salient features of the Rotating Hydraulic Cylinder are as follows :

Super high speed, light weight large through - hole.

Bulit-in Check valve which prevents the internal pressure from sudden fall so that the work piece will not fly out and cause a serious accident.

PRAGA also manufactures manual Lathe Chucks viz 3-Jaw Self Centering and 4jaw Independet Lathe Chucks. 3-Jaw Self Centering Chuck sizes are 100mm, 160mm, 200mm, 250mm & 315mm. 4-Jaw Independent Lathe Chuck sizes are 6" (150mm) 8"(205mm), 10"(255mm), 12"(305mm), 14"(355mm) & 16"(405mm).

PRODUCT MODIFICATIONS AND DEVELOPMENTS :

Praga's R & D has been alert and active to the changing demands of customer and has added the following features to its current product range.

512 THREAD ROLLING MACHINE

  • The new designof the Universal Joint will have an enhanced life - minimum 8 years without maintenance and a considerable reduction in the down time of the Machine. This will also enable it to roll fine pitch serration.
  • Redesigned Gear Box will result in reduction of oil heating and increased life of bearing and oil seal.
  • L-Guide life has beenincreased by at least 2 times.
  • Mechanical Return Stroke adjustment hydraulically has resulted in the increase in no of cycle and production rate.
  • Incorporated modern switches with glowing bulb to indicate the various functions of the machines. Further, redesigned end cover adds to the general aesthetic view.
  • Hand wheel introduced to increase more leverage for easy rotation graduated with 0.020 mm for fine depth setting.

CNC HORIZONTAL MACHINING CENTRES :

  • Angular encoder introduced to maintain angular positioning accuracy up to 3 degits

SURFACE GRINDING MACHINE :

  • Face key introduced in place of toothed clutches and spline shaft in the elevation mechanism of Model 454 for maintenance free operation.
  • Below guard introduced on Bed V-Guide in Model 452 to give full protection from dust and foreign particles. This will result in the enhancement of V-Guide life of the machine.
  • Anchor Bracket introduced on the R H side of the table which will improve surface finish in model 452
  • 451 power pack redesigned to enhance the performance of the Machine and the power pack
  • Auto down feed increased to facilitate the reduction of grinding cycle time by 50 to 70% for Models 454 / 452 AP
  • Power tripping mechanism introduced in 455H to maintain the required depth perfectly.
  • New design facilitates mounting of the motor in model 455H from back side of the machine freely which will make adjustment of the belt and maintenance easily.
  • Linear axes scales for Z and Y axes has been introduced for all models which will facilitate accurate depth setting up to 0.001 mm
