From M.D.'S DESK

Some times when I am at leisure, I sit back and think about the status of the company 3 years back and various strategies to be adopted to fulfill the company's "vision" -to become one of the best 3 Machine Tool companies in India by the year 2005.

Three years ago Praga was declared terminally sick company. The closure of the company was looming large and was inevitable. However, the company had made significants progress during the past three years. The remarkable contributions of two vital sectors have made this company to stage a come back with in a short span of time.

Praga's philosophy is people first. The employees of teh company have under gone hardships. But they havenot lost the hopes. Through persistent hard work and determination, what I call commitment and mutual responsibility, our employees with a feeling of belongingness have played a crucial role in turning around the company from RED TO BLACK.

Praga in recent past had identity crisis. Many of the esteemed customers were under impressions that the company got closed. But praga like any growing organization move through distinguishable phases of development with certain management crisis and turbulence. Our customers too have faced certain difficult situations. However, my special praise goes to them. We, at praga take customer's compalin and feed back as gift. All of them have reposed confidence in the company without any reservations.

In recent past, Praga management has focused on make & sell machine tools, then slowly focused on efficiency on operation. Now the agenda before us is the expapnsion of market through product segmentation and with problem solving and innaovation.

The satisfaction of a job will done and the yearning for excellence.

The joy of repeat orders from happy and satisfied customers - the focus on quality and service.

The thrill of exporting successfully agains global competition.

The glow of seeing employees improving their standard of living.

The fulfillment that comes from sharing and caring of employees and customers in equal measures.

Praga's earlier set backs has now turned in to come back through its Vision, Decisions, Actions and Commitment.

Every one at PRAGA now very well understand that Hard Work brings PROSPERITY while playing around brings POVERTY.

- KISHAN L. MEHROTRA.
